Litus-to-Let Review

To start off nicely Litus-to-let is a rental company located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. They rent not only residential but store fronts as well giving them the appearance they are a good company. They spend a lot of money advertising such a slumlord company though. I do not understand where this company went wrong or where to even start, so bare with me.

Let’s start with myself; I was 22 and my pregnant college girlfriend was 19 at the time. Yes, we were a young couple but we had just moved to Myrtle Beach for her to start college, and us to begin our life together. We never once had a party the entire time we lived there and we were great tenants, all the neighbors liked us and most were in their 50’s. We moved into Litus-to-let’s building in late summer (August). When we arrived we had to pick up the keys from the Litus-to-let building because she (Sarah) did not feel like meeting us at the home so we could inspect it with her for damage or any issues we would see upon arrival. So when we arrived to the home we were disappointed to say the least it smelled like bug spray and had a horrible paint job. Beyond that the fridge did not get cold, half the light bulbs were missing, dead cockroaches in the cupboards, air conditioning unit was broken, and last but not least more than 50% of the electric sockets were not working. Of course we complained the very next morning and it took them 3 days to come by. When Litus-to-let actually showed up they did not even bring a fridge they went and got one out of another vacant building and put it in our home dirty and nasty. While there they did not fix any electrical sockets, light bulbs, paint, or bugs, they actually tried charging me for a water leak in the kitchen. This company did not care what so ever about us they just wanted us for our money and had no problem trying to steal it blaming us and other tenants for their own problems. At one point in time they tried to charge a new lady down stairs with breaking her HVAC unit which is located behind the building and was over 10 years old. The older gentleman right next door to myself in G6 I feel so bad for, he complained about the bugs over twenty times, each time he wrote them long letters because no one can get in contact with them over the phone. Back to us though we lived in unit G5 for 3 months before we seen any form of pest control, when he came he sprayed 4 lines and left. We lived there roughly 5-6 months before we even seen anyone come to mow or trim the yard. Finally in June we decided it was too hot in the unit to stay any longer. My girlfriend and I both had to wake up with it being over 90 degrees by 8am every morning, when we went to sleep it was normally over 100 degrees in our unit. I called, wrote certified letters, and complained to multiple people; yet still not one person ever came to fix our air conditioning unit the entire 9 months we lived there. We had nothing but constant issues with the landlord. Normally it is the tenants that make a place bad but all the tenants were completely fine it was the damn horrible scum lord company fault everyone’s lives were so bad while living there. For god sake half the units tested positive for black mold and they did not care one bit.

As much as I want to rate them at a 0/10 the tenants were such good neighbors and for that I give Litus-to-let only a 1. To the gentleman next door god bless his heart he finally got out of there and is now living greatly for half the price and 10x the satisfaction.
